Big Band Leader Frank Love Jr. of
Shelby has been a trumpet player since the eighth grade. Love is a
retired textile mill executive from Mt. Holly N.C. and is the
founder of the Frank Love Orchestra. He has been an influence and
mentor to generations of musicians. The orchestra plays music from
the 30s and 40s written and performed by the likes of Glenn Miller
and Benny Goodman as well as genres like beach, (“Under the
Boardwalk”) Dixieland, German band and Sousa marches. The Frank Love
Orchestra is made up of musicians from throughout the Carolinas and
plays wherever “good music” is enjoyed. “I still get a tingle,” says
Love about his orchestra and playing the great hits and classic
tunes of the swing era. |
