Independence Jazz Reunion originated in
1957 when six guys - three University of Pennsylvania and three high
school students - began performing all over the east coast. Their
unique classic jazz/swing! Dixie/gospel style was loved by audiences
in Europe, Bermuda and New York venues - including Carnegie Hall.
Scheduled to audition for the Ed Sullivan Show, leader Rick
Lundquist was drafted into the U.S. Army. The lifelong friends were
parted for 40 years - during which each had unique careers such as
VP of Japan Airlines, Fulbright Scholar educator, music/lyrics
writer, university music professor, professional jazz musician, and
engineer at MIT - but are now back together rekindling their boyhood
dreams with concert dates and two new CDs. Their repertoire includes
Alexander's Ragtime Band, Autumn Leaves, Down By the Riverside, St.
Louis Blues and much more! For more information about Independence Jazz Reunion their website at www.ijr.net |
